Harp and Oboe Duo: A Musical Journey Through Early Music and European Folk Traditions

Sunday, August 3rd, Un Jardin en Ville in Gouarec invites you to an enchanting afternoon where nature and music come together in harmony. In this lush and peaceful setting, let yourself be carried away by a unique concert blending voice, Celtic harp, oboe, and recorder.

The German duo, Viola de Galgóczy (vocals, Celtic harp) and Ulrich Steurer (oboe, recorder), will perform a rich and inspiring repertoire. The program includes songs from the Renaissance and Baroque eras by John Dowland, Henry Purcell, Giulio Caccini, as well as traditional European folk tunes. The concert will feature both original arrangements and personal compositions, offering a musical experience that is both heartfelt and timeless.

Gouarec is a small town at the junction of two rivers, the Doré and the Blavet. Here, during the Middle Ages, the powerful de Rohan family owned a strategic defensive castle. The town of Gouarec grew around it and by the 16th century Gouarec had become a legal and administrative centre based at La Maison du Sénéchal (1634). Regular markets and trade fairs were held here but over the centuries the castle fell into ruins.
